This release expands AWS hybrid backup and restore from custom storage, Alibaba Cloud PrivateLink capabilities, and direct endpoint migration. It relaxes Serverless database proxy sizing limits and improves log auditing, monitoring and alerts, and project permissions. It also enables bill payments using credited remittance funds on the international site and adds metadata-query Open APIs for instance and tenant creation.

Database disaster recovery

  • AWS Marketplace and direct-sales channels in China and on the international site support hybrid backup and restore from custom object storage, allowing backups to be stored in customer-owned buckets. This capability is allowlisted and applies to instances using the Shared Nothing architecture and running OceanBase Database 4.x or later.

Networking and database proxy

  • Alibaba Cloud PrivateLink with NLB adds read-only and read/write-splitting endpoints, as well as database proxy configuration changes.
  • Alibaba Cloud instances support switching from SingleTunnel endpoints to PrivateLink endpoints.
  • When migrating instances from Alibaba Cloud to OB Cloud, you can also migrate their direct endpoints.
  • The total CPU cores in a Serverless database proxy cluster are no longer capped at one quarter of the total CPU cores in the database's full-featured replicas.
  • In regions where the rollout is enabled, new accounts creating new clusters are offered dedicated and Serverless database proxy modes by default. Shared mode can additionally be enabled through an allowlist.

Security and compliance

  • Event Center supports delivering console activity logs to Alibaba Cloud Simple Log Service (SLS) for integration with customer real-time audit workflows.
  • SQL audit logs can be delivered to Azure object storage for retention in customer-designated storage.
  • Project settings add centralized external log-service configuration management. SQL audit can reuse these configurations instead of requiring duplicate setup. This release covers Alibaba Cloud SLS.
  • SQL audit improves statement type detection to correctly identify UPDATE, INSERT, and other SQL statements with long leading comments.
  • Instance and tenant allowlist-group pages add guidance explaining the relationship between the two levels and how to configure access rules.

Monitoring and alerts

  • IO utilization and disk-throughput utilization alerts are aligned with monitoring metric definitions to reduce inconsistencies between alerts and monitoring displays.

Billing Center

  • On the international site, customers can pay bills using funds from offline remittances that have been claimed and credited.

Accounts and permissions

  • Organization administrators and organization operations administrators can rejoin projects from the project list after leaving them. Links to projects they have left show a permission notice and guide them back to the project list.

Open API

  • Metadata-query Open APIs required for instance and tenant creation are added, covering specifications, tenant modes, and related information.

September 23, 2026

This OMS update focuses on connectivity across clouds, data synchronization, and task operations:

  • Added VPC Peering connectivity and OpenAPI support for task management to reduce network integration and automated management costs across clouds.
  • Added data synchronization from PolarDB-X 2.0 to OB_MySQL and from OB_MySQL to AnalyticDB for MySQL 3.0 (ADB 3.0), helping customers move existing workloads to multi-cloud OMS.
  • Added materialized view synchronization from OB_MySQL to Kafka to deliver preaggregated data and statistical results to downstream applications. This feature is available only on the international site. You must request activation to use it.

VPC Peering connectivity for data sources

Data sources now support VPC Peering, with a dedicated entry point for configuring connections through VPC peering.

This option is intended for data sources deployed in separate VPCs that need private network connections for data transfer. Customers can select a connection method that fits their existing network architecture, reducing network setup and maintenance work.

OMS task management through OpenAPI

OpenAPI now supports managing data sources, data migration tasks, and data validation tasks, covering key operations from task creation to ongoing maintenance.

Managed resource or function
Supported operations
Data sources Create, list, and delete data sources
Task lifecycle Create, start, pause, resume, and release tasks
Task status Query task and step details
Synchronization objects Modify objects, query modification records, and cancel, retry, or terminate modification operations
Task configuration Modify task configurations

Customers can integrate OMS into their internal operations platforms, automation scripts, and business workflows. This reduces repetitive console operations when managing tasks in bulk and improves operational consistency and efficiency.

Materialized view synchronization from OB_MySQL to Kafka

This feature is currently available only on the international site. You must request activation to use it. The existing OB_MySQL-to-Kafka synchronization capability now supports materialized views. Users can select materialized views by name as synchronization objects and configure data filters.

This capability delivers preaggregated data, statistical results, and other materialized view results to downstream applications. It allows customers to reuse results computed by the database and reduce redundant computation downstream.

Data synchronization from PolarDB-X 2.0 to OB_MySQL

OMS now supports synchronizing data from PolarDB-X 2.0 to OceanBase tenants in MySQL mode, expanding the range of sources supported by multi-cloud OMS.

This capability supports consolidating PolarDB-X 2.0 data in OceanBase and moving existing synchronization tasks from OMS on Alibaba Cloud to OMS on OceanBase Cloud. Customers can retain their existing data flows when switching service platforms, reducing the rework needed to accommodate unsupported synchronization scenarios.

Data synchronization from OB_MySQL to ADB 3.0

OMS now supports synchronizing business data from OceanBase tenants in MySQL mode to ADB 3.0 for reporting and business analytics.

Customers already using this synchronization scenario can move their OMS service to the multi-cloud platform while keeping their existing downstream analytics workloads, reducing the cost of switching platforms.

Enhancements

Clearer error messages and troubleshooting guidance for Kafka topics

When a destination Kafka topic is deleted or becomes inaccessible, the console displays the error, its cause, and suggested actions. The incremental synchronization component shows an error state, and error logging has also been improved.

Users can check whether the topic exists and whether access permissions are correct, then resume the task after restoring the topic or adjusting the synchronization objects. This reduces reliance on backend logs and helps customers identify and resolve synchronization interruptions more quickly.

Improved output of numeric fields in Canal JSON

Improved support for outputting numeric field values as strings in Canal JSON.

Improved task configuration and status display

  • Automatic removal of extra spaces from matching rules: Reduces object matching issues caused by extra spaces when copying and pasting rules.
  • Network type in task details: Data migration and data validation task details now include the network type, making it easier to check connection settings and the associated billing information.

May 28, 2026

A new multi-cloud version of OMS was released. It supports switching Alibaba Cloud data transfer tasks to the Alibaba Cloud channel of OceanBase Cloud, intelligent diagnostics for data migration, and filter pushdown. These capabilities provide more granular task management, improve the stability of migration validation tasks in multi-cloud environments, and make data operations more flexible and reliable.

Switch Alibaba Cloud data transfer tasks to OceanBase Cloud

This release allows you to switch data transfer tasks from the Alibaba Cloud official channel to OceanBase Cloud. You can initiate a switch from the OceanBase instance list or from the switched-instance entry on Alibaba Cloud. The data transfer link continues to run during the switch. Take note of the following considerations:

  • Only task types currently supported by OceanBase Cloud can be switched. Support for other task types will be added based on priority. For details, see Task types supported by OceanBase Cloud.
  • During the switch, you must release or unsubscribe from the data transfer instance on Alibaba Cloud. OceanBase Cloud then automatically places the corresponding order. Before the switch, contact your business manager and check for possible billing changes.
  • The Alibaba Cloud OpenAPI and OceanBase Cloud OpenAPI use different invocation methods. If you manage data transfer tasks through OpenAPI, contact OceanBase Support before the switch to evaluate the integration plan.

Intelligent diagnostics for data migration

Added intelligent diagnostics for performance issues and destination-side execution exceptions during full migration and incremental synchronization. The diagnostics identify possible causes, provide optimization suggestions, and allow users to authorize automatic optimization. An exception diagnosis is triggered automatically when a task fails. For performance issues, users can authorize automatic parameter tuning.

Pushdown of filtering conditions

Added support for pushing row filter conditions down to the source database during the slicing and data retrieval stages of full migration and full validation. This avoids loading an entire table and then filtering the data in memory, which can reduce resource consumption and the time required for migration, synchronization, and validation. After the row filter condition passes syntax validation during task creation, you can enable filter pushdown. It is enabled by default when the filtered columns have indexes.

Feature optimizations

  • Optimization for rate limiting and throttling scenarios

Optimized the implementation of rate limiting and throttling for data migration. In incremental synchronization, the source-side rate limit is adjusted to match the target-side rate limit, preventing the issue where low target-side traffic occurs due to source-side throttling in large-scale ETL scenarios. Full migration now supports independent configuration of source-side and target-side throttling, providing users with richer configuration capabilities.

  • Optimization for task status

Added incremental log pulling from the source side for data migration tasks. By exposing more detailed step information, users can better understand the overall task status. The association between the status of each task step and the task's overall status has also been optimized, ensuring that any exception at any step is promptly reflected in the task status, enabling timely feedback on task anomalies.

This release introduces data migration tasks between PostgreSQL, TiDB, and OceanBase Database, expands support for cloud database migration, and adds standalone data validation and label management. These capabilities provide more granular task management, improve the stability of migration validation in multi-cloud environments, and make data operations more flexible and reliable.

New data migration tasks

Added support for data migration tasks from PostgreSQL databases to OceanBase databases (including MySQL and Oracle compatibility modes) and from TiDB databases to OceanBase Database's MySQL-compatible mode. It supports schema migration, full migration, and incremental synchronization, helping you quickly migrate data from PostgreSQL or TiDB to OceanBase Database. Additionally, new data migration tasks have been added for migrating data from OceanBase databases (including MySQL and Oracle compatibility modes) to PostgreSQL databases, and from OceanBase Database's MySQL-compatible mode to TiDB databases. These tasks support incremental synchronization, enabling you to achieve reverse synchronization after migrating data from other databases to OceanBase Database, meeting business scenario requirements for disaster recovery and business continuity.

New data validation capability

This version separates data validation from data migration, allowing standalone data validation tasks to be configured. In addition to full validation, row count validation compares the row counts of table objects for faster validation. Full validation and row count validation are currently supported for the following task types: MySQL -> OB_MySQL, OB_MySQL -> MySQL, OB_MySQL -> OB_MySQL, Oracle -> OB_Oracle, OB_Oracle -> Oracle, OB_Oracle -> OB_Oracle, PostgreSQL -> OB_Oracle, PostgreSQL -> OB_MySQL, and TiDB -> OB_MySQL.

Label management capability

Data migration and data validation are now integrated with the OceanBase Cloud label management system. You can add labels to data migration and data validation tasks and filter the task list by label to manage tasks based on business attributes.

Stability enhancements

  • For data migration tasks with PostgreSQL as the source, incremental synchronization now uses the unique key on the destination by default for conflict detection. This avoids data quality issues caused by incomplete schema information in PostgreSQL logs.

  • Refined incremental synchronization serialization to the table level. DDL synchronization for one table no longer blocks subsequent DML synchronization for unrelated tables.
