The OceanBase Lifecycle Support Policy defines the availability of OceanBase product versions for purchase and the duration of software updates and technical support, collectively referred to as "Standard General Support." For detailed information about specific product versions and their releases, please refer to the relevant Release Notes. If a product or version is not listed in the lifecycle table below, please consult the Release Notes provided at the time of its release for further details.

To ensure uninterrupted access to Standard General Support and minimize risks associated with product defects, OceanBase licensed users are encouraged to plan upgrades in alignment with the OceanBase Lifecycle Support Policy. This ensures that business systems remain on versions within the Standard General Support period, reducing operational risks and ensuring optimal performance.

Key terms in the OceanBase Lifecycle Support Policy

  • General Availability (GA)

The date when a product version is officially released and made available for purchase. This follows the completion of all necessary preparations, including commercial readiness, security testing, compliance checks, localization, and sales feasibility evaluations.

  • Standard General Support

During the Standard General Support period, customers are entitled to a full range of technical resources and services from OceanBase, including:

    • Maintenance fixes
    • Software version updates
    • Remote technical support (5×8 for general issues, 7×24 for critical issues)

The Standard General Support period may also include feature updates, security tests, compliance certifications, and other enhancements. Once this period ends, OceanBase will no longer provide these services for the specified version.

To continue receiving Standard General Support, users can upgrade to the latest product version before the Standard General Support period concludes. For those requiring additional time to transition after the End of Support (EOS) date, Extended Support services can be purchased before the end of the Standard General Support period. This ensures continued support during the transition phase.

  • Extended Support

During the Extended Support period, OceanBase provides critical fixes for existing defects in the specified product version. No other support services are available during this period, and all support ceases once Extended Support ends.

  • End of Marketing (EOM)

The last date on which a product version can be ordered through OceanBase's sales channels. After this date, the version will no longer be available for purchase. For additional details, users can refer to this document or contact their sales representative.

  • Long-Term Support (LTS)

A formally released version designed for long-term support. LTS versions prioritize stability and meet the majority of feature requirements for specific domains. These versions follow a standard lifecycle and typically do not receive feature updates but remain eligible for critical bug fixes and security patches. LTS versions are highly recommended for large-scale commercial applications.

  • Limited Support (LDS)

A formally released version with limited support. LDS versions are designed to meet specific feature requirements for targeted scenarios and follow a defined lifecycle plan. Unlike LTS versions, LDS versions may include feature updates and provide limited bug fixes and security patches during the support period. However, LDS versions are not recommended for large-scale commercial use, and users are encouraged to upgrade to the corresponding LTS version as soon as it becomes available.
